GUILD OF SERVICE

This organization was formed prior to 1956 in Vellore town. The Vellore Municipality had donated land measuring about 39250 square feet in T.S.No.3189/282. The District Collector of Vellore is the ever sitting president of Guild of Service and all its members were being elected according to its by laws .At one stage that is during 1976 the guild of service has entered into the venture of taking the entire administration of Blind Home.

The Blind Home is still functioning for the usually handicapped children. They have been housed in the blind home for providing them food, Shelter, Clothing and education, besides medical facilities and to put them in a proper path to lead their life like others. For all these amenities the Blind Home provide the above facilities to their orphan children. The to lack of funds the Blind Home administration is struggling a lot for funds. Therefore the guild of service, which is the mother organization of the Blind Home has under the presidentship of the Collector decided to construct a working women hostel at the cast of Rs.29,87,433 with the idea of utilizing the remunerations which would be derived through the said hostel and to feed the poor orphan visually handicapped children.

The Tamil Nadu corporation for development of women has donated (as first Instalment) a sum of Rs.8 lakh 96,229 with which lentil level building has been raised. Now, for releasing the remaining fund, the said corporation has requested the Collector to sort out the issue of land ownership. Now, the Collector, Mr.R.Sivakumar, I.A.S., is taking steps to decide above issue and to obtain the remaining funds to complete the construction of the said working women hostel.
